The Journal of Water Engineering and Management (JWEAM) is an open-access journal committed to the widest possible dissemination, reuse, and accessibility of published research while ensuring appropriate attribution to authors and the source.

Copyright and Licensing

Copyright © Author(s). Authors retain copyright and grant the Journal of Water Engineering and Management the right of first publication.

Articles published under JWEAM's current open-access policy (from 2024 onwards) are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This licence permits users to copy, share, distribute, reproduce, adapt, and build upon published material in any medium or format, including for commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and source, a link to the licence is provided, and any changes made are indicated. Articles published prior to 2024 remain subject to the copyright and licensing terms applicable at the time of publication.

Accordingly, separate permission from JWEAM is generally not required for reuse of article text, figures, tables, or other material published under CC BY 4.0, provided the terms of the licence are followed.

If any material included in an article is credited to a third party and is not covered by the article's CC BY 4.0 licence, permission for reuse must be obtained directly from the respective copyright holder.

Author Rights and Self-Archiving

Authors retain the right to use and share their work without embargo. Authors may:

  • Share the accepted manuscript and published version of their article.
  • Deposit the article in institutional or subject repositories.
  • Post the published article on institutional or personal webpages.
  • Use the article in teaching, presentations, theses, dissertations, and other scholarly activities.
  • Share the article through non-commercial academic and professional networks.

When sharing or reusing the published version, authors should provide appropriate citation to the original JWEAM publication and include the article DOI wherever available.

The Journal of Water Engineering and Management (JWEAM) adopted its current open-access licensing policy effective from 2024. Articles published from 2024 onwards are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), with copyright retained by the author(s).

Articles published prior to 2024 remain subject to the copyright and licensing terms applicable at the time of their publication. The current CC BY 4.0 licence does not apply retrospectively to such articles unless explicitly stated on the individual article.
